bijou baubles.com is a working studio specializing in one of a kind  sterling silver cabochon earrings and is the online home of established custom jewelry designer, Michael Barbera. Fluent in design, and committed to quality and expert craftsmanship. Mr. Barbera creates stunningly elegant sterling silver earrings, incorporating richly colorful cabochon gems, jaspers, agates, or dinosaur bone in each handcrafted pair.  Michael is pleased to announce silversmithing workshops for beginning and intermediate students in fabrication, lost wax casting and anvil forging,  by appointment.  2016 Summer/Fall Silversmithing Workshops enrollment opportunities.

Pendants, Etc.

Every piece is handcrafted from Sterling Silver and naturally occurring stones.  All stones are gem grade.  Most of the jaspers, dinosaur bone, and agates used for Tubes & Talismans are obtained from the Heart of Stone Studio in Arizona.  They are truly one of a kind artifacts.  The subtle and fabulously dynamic matrix of colors vary stone to stone.  Jaspers are usually opaque, while agates often contain translucent bands.  Jaspers often reflect the terrain in which they are found.

Gem cutters are challenged to find material that will yield stones similar enough to be considered matched pairs.  Natural cabochon and lab-grown gems used for Bijou Baubles and Jem Mosaics are purchased from Rio Grande in New Mexico, and Joseph P. Stachura in Massachusetts.
